On December 12th 2015, WBro Clive Jones ran a “Santa’s Workshop” for the children of Market Drayton and surrounding areas. This was held at the King’s Head Pub in Market Drayton. Many activities were held, and the kids left very happy.
Three wise Masons bearing gifts travelled from the East (St Mary’s Lodge) due West to Hope House in Oswestry, mode of transport unknown! No gold, frankincense or myrrh, but presents for the resident children and their siblings.
A cheque for £652 was presented to Hope House which was the proceeds of Santa’s workshop, this included sizeable donations from St Mary’s Lodge 8373 and Clive Chapter 1575 of Market Drayton. This was later added to by Marstons Brewery with their wonderful donation.
On Monday 20th June, WBro Mark King and his good lady wife Gill accompanied by WBro Clive Jones visited Hope House once again to present the £500 from the event, which was the wonderful donation from Marston’s Brewery. In total the Santa’s Workshop which was held at Mark and Gill’s pub, The Kings Head in Market Drayton [a wonderful pub with a great homely atmosphere, great food and can cater for all functions!!!] raised a wonderful £1,152.
Thanks go to Mark and Gill for their support not only to the 2019 Festival, but to the local charities that they support too. The Cheque was received with thanks from the Chief Executive Andrew Goldsmith , children receiving respite at the hospice, Poppy, Harry and Louise Corfield, supporter service officer.
