WBro. Clem Spencer delivers a defibrillator to St Peter’s Lodge No. 1125 and collects £2,000 for HeartSWell
WBro. Clem Spencer PPGPurs visited St Peters Lodge No. 1125 in Tiverton to deliver a defibrillator to them and was presented with a cheque for £2,000 for HeartSWell.
WBro. Clem said “I can’t begin to show you the gratitude that this gesture brings to the fore. It demonstrates to the real world what Freemasonry brings to everyday life. It makes me so very proud to be a part of this fraternity and shows me that the good work that local charities do for our community is so very much appreciated”.
WBro. Clem went on to say “Princetown is a very remote community cut off from services in the depth of winter. Princetown Lodge is not a big lodge but has requested a defibrillator which will then be made available to the whole community. They are only in a position to donate a small sum of money and so we are to use some of your donation to help them achieve their aim for the whole community. I’m sure that your lodge will be pleased that your donation will be going to another good cause, and that one day your actions and kindness will prove to be a life saver to somebody.”
HeartSWell have donated 10 defibrillators to Masonic halls throughout Devon. Lodges are asked to give the charity £500 and are then supplied with a defibrillator costing £1,000 complete with training. Lodges are then asked to continue to support the charity in years to come.
WBro. Clem said “It’s been a great success. We have given out 30 in the past year to sports clubs, schools, and community projects.”
