Bluebell Wood supports around 250 children and young adults with life-threatening conditions each year. Its wide-ranging services include end of life treatment and care, music therapy, counselling, sibling support groups, home visits and much more. It costs more than £4 million for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice to keep its doors open each year and 90 per cent of this needs to be raised through community and corporate fundraising. A fantastic introduction to the delights of fishing was provided by the West Lancashire branch of the Masonic Trout and Salmon Fishing Charity (MTFC), who held their first event for 2017 at the Clear Water Fisheries, Borwick, Carnforth. The event was held over two days, with members of the Help for Heroes Band of Brothers and Sisters team attending on the first day and young adults with special needs attending on the second day.
St Martin’s Lodge, 2812, from Bletchley, recently held their annual fun day for the Milton Keynes Young Carers, giving them a much needed day off from their busy life and duties. Held at the Herons Lodge Centre in Great Holm over 150 people attended and had an afternoon of live music, barbecue, drinks, animal petting zoo, bingo and bouncy castles.
