QUEEN’S COLLEGE TAUNTON LODGE No.6988 PRESENTS £4,300 TO TAUNTON ASSOCIATION FOR THE HOMELESS AT COMMUNITY OPEN DAY
The Lodge of Light & Reflection, which meets close to Avonmouth Docks, selected The Mission to Seafarers as its chosen charity in this tercentenary year and the lodge’s £300 donation was matched by the Gloucestershire Masonic Charity Action.
In 2017, The United Grand Lodge of England appointed an Artist in Residence, the South African artist Jacques Viljoen, 28, who has a background in both classical painting and contemporary art. There have been many artists who have graced the annals of Freemasonry.
The initiative, which is funded by the Freemasons, helps children to learn new skills, improve their self confidence and enjoy a new hobby.
The scheme is already being run in other parts of the country and it is now being set up across North Somerset and Somerset.
MEMBERS, wives and partners of Taunton’s Vivary Masonic Lodge raised £475 at a Christmas gathering at the home of the then Master, Chris George and his wife, Rachel.
A cheque has now been presented to Tina Viksna, the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance fund raising manager, by Alwyn Clegg and Bhuvnesh Bhalla, father-in-law of the host and the lodge treasurer respectively.
