The East Midland Chapter has recently been distributing money that was raised at our annual National Rally. This is a weekend hosted by a different Chapter each year. It was our honour to co-host with the West Midlands Chapter last July. The Rally is a weekend event where members from across the UK, and even from abroad get together and party. In total this event raised £18,000. East Midlands are distributing half and West Midlands the other half.
A hundred older carers who look after people with learning disabilities will be given help and support, thanks to a grant of £52,000 to the Reach Learning Disability charity from Nottinghamshire Freemasons. W Bro Richard James Richardson was born on 23 January 1922 in Doncaster. At that time, the nation was still rebuilding its strength after the carnage of the First World War and the principles of commitment to one’s family, friends and colleagues which were very much to the fore, created an environment which shaped the attitude of many young men. What emerged were men who recognised the value of service to others and it is therefore probably not surprising that Dick Richardson became the man we know.
