The lockdown which has taken place in recent weeks has caused worry and difficulties for many people – getting groceries and keeping the household in essential supplies has been of major concern and stress to many. Our meeting halls in Derbyshire also face difficulties – we have catering staff who rely on our meetings for their income.
Mr Hutchinson has been actively involved in Freemasons’ charities since 1988, when he joined the Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys as a management trainee, working his way up the ranks to chief executive.

As our lodges are not meeting due to the current situation I thought this group would group would help Freemasons to remember those who have passed. After an initiative introduced last year by district charity steward John Taylor, members were encouraged to donate either food or financial support for the local foodbank: each item was measured with an overall target of reaching one mile – Miles More Food from The Freemasons.

PRING is part of Poole Hospital Charity and supports parents and relatives through baby loss. Everything they do is to benefit bereaved parents and relatives who experience the loss of a baby. They offer support for baby loss that occurs at any stage of pregnancy, at, or just after birth – whatever the circumstances and however long ago.
It is often said that symbolism is carried too far and this is difficult to deny when I think of Freud and other psychiatrists and psychologists who seem able to find strange and often erotic meanings in all they see. The meanings given to every image based on repetition makes the lay-person feel at a serious disadvantage when they wish to contradict anything that is given a meaning by such “Specialists.” The symbolic object, which is dredged up by the mind, seems to have no great pattern of consistency in the case of psychiatric symbol definition.
