Cornwall Freemasons donate to Memory Café

EACH year the Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of Cornwall asks each of it’s 32-member lodges to submit grant applications for nominated local worthy causes.

The members of Sir Bevil Granville Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 1231, which meets in Bude, nominated Bude Memory Café and were delighted that a grant of £250 was awarded.

Today no one will deny the genius of Oscar Wilde. Yet during his own lifetime he was spurned and humiliated in spite of the success of much of his work. He was a victim of the society into which he was born. The Victorian middle-class, whose sacred institutions of morality Wilde was to infringe, simply had no patience or tolerance for him.
