Freemasons from West Wales will be hosting their own teddy bears’ picnic as part of celebrations to mark 300 years of Freemasonry while raising awareness of the excellent work of one of its most important Masonic charitable initiatives, the Teddies for Loving Care (TLC) Appeal.
Bluebell Wood supports around 250 children and young adults with life-threatening conditions each year. Its wide-ranging services include end of life treatment and care, music therapy, counselling, sibling support groups, home visits and much more. It costs more than £4 million for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice to keep its doors open each year and 90 per cent of this needs to be raised through community and corporate fundraising. A Pakistani Moslem from the Khyber Pass was installed last night as Master of a predominately Jewish Lodge of Freemasons in the south side of Glasgow.
Taxi-driver Wali Khan, teetotaller and Lodge member for the last 10 years, is believed to be the first Moslem to hold such office in Scotland.
The Freemasons Foundation has donated $50,000 to the New Zealand Rugby Foundation which partners with New Zealand’s seriously injured rugby players.
The donation was announced at a charity evening hosted by the Freemasons Foundation at the North Shore Masonic Centre in Albany, on the night of the second test between the All Blacks and British and Irish Lions rugby team.
The event, now in its 18th year was staged by Ludlow’s Lodge of the Marches at Culmington Village Hall, and this year attracted a bumper amount of diners with about 150 turning out compared to last year’s 110.
Organiser Colin Edwards said it was heartening to see, and said the event had raised £1,700 from food and a raffle to go towards good causes in the future.
A charity which helps people with disabilities take part in sport has received a £4,500 donation from a group of Norfolk Freemasons.

A group of intrepid West Yorkshire Freemasons successfully cycled over 200 miles from Freemasons Hall in London to Castle Grove Masonic Hall in Leeds, in an impressive 15 hours – in the name of charity.
The Provincial Grand Lodge Northern Division of the Grand Lodge of South Africa, the local chapter of the Freemason’s organisation, recently made a number of meaningful donations in the greater Johannesburg area by donating blankets and warm clothes to those in need.
