The cheque was handed over by Mr. Brian Hilling, the Master of Tenby Lodge, on behalf of the Masonic Province of West Wales, who regularly make significant donations to many local charities, and who recognised the vital work carried out by the First Responders, for whom the cheque was gratefully accepted by team members Tony Wall and Ben James.
Penda Lodge No 7360 which meets at Sandbach has responded to a community initiative and donated £150 to the local Elworth Cricket Club who have pledged to supply a defibrillator for use of the public.
The campaign for the £2,000 equipment was launched by the patient participation group at Graham Road Surgery in 2015 when its then-chairman Alan Rice became aware of the lack of defibrillators in Weston.
This is a Whittlesey based charity which has installed 35 public access defibrillators in Whittlesey and has provided awareness training sessions in all schools in the town. It is also running a screening program to detect young people at risk of sudden cardiac arrest.
