David Brearley was a Freemason signer of the American Constitution

David Brearley was a Freemason and signer of the American Constitution. Brearley was born on June 11, 1745.

When the American Revolution broke out, Brearley was already a member of Monmouth County Militia. He eventually rose to the rank of colonel in the militia. From 1776 to 1779 he served in the New Jersey Line, a string of numbered regiments which served in New Jersey by order of the Continental Congress.

Freemasonry in China: With the end of the war, the lodges in China and Hong Kong revived, although some Lodges moved from the provinces into Shanghai, Tianjin and Hong Kong. Enthusiasm was so great that the six Philippine lodges meeting in China, which had an almost entirely Chinese membership, formed the Grand Lodge of China in 1949.
