Membership and Recruitment Presentation

On Tuesday 31st May the first of a series of presentations entitled ‘Building Recruitment” was delivered by the Provincial Recruitment Officer WBro Mo Afsa ProvSGD at Mill House Masonic Hall in Clayton-le-Moors. The evening was introduced by WBro John Farrington PAGDC the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, who stressed the importance that recruitment will play in shaping the future of Freemasonry, and he explained the role of the Recruitment Committee that the Province had established to address this issue. WBro Afsa delivered a thought provoking and interesting presentation which highlighted the opportunities that fall to all of us, where we could potentially promote Freemasonry to others in our daily lives.

Mo concluded his presentation by posing the question ‘What Can You Do?’, which initiated a frank and honest debate, where the potential opportunities and barriers to membership in Freemasonry were discussed. Lots of positive ideas and were explored, with great food for thought going forward. WBro Dave McGurty PProvGSwdB the Deputy District Chairman then explained the Operation of the District Recruitment Committee which will be headed by himself, and how this will be a think tank for ideas on all issues relating to recruitment and retention, and how this will be a completely different role to the Lodge Mentor.
The meeting was concluded with a vote of thanks by WBro Farrington who also explained that this presentation will be given at the other Masonic Halls in the District over the coming months. The dates of subsequent meetings will be:

All meetings commencing at 7.30pm
Thursday 9th June at Accrington Masonic Hall
