Lincolnshire Freemasons Celebrate Tercentenary with Church Music Concert

At St Botolph’s Parish Church, Boston, on Saturday 1st July 2017 by the Lincolnshire Youth Wind Orchestra and the Boston Youth Pop Choir

On a beautiful fresh, summer evening in the cool, elegant and impressive Boston Parish Church, “The Stump”, an audience of some 440 was wonderfully entertained by some of the most talented youth musicians and choristers in Lincolnshire.

The 65 select musicians in the Lincolnshire Youth Wind Orchestra under their conductor W Bro David Dorey, joined by 25 invited past alumni, and the 40 choristers in the Boston Youth Pop Choir under their conductor Mrs Vanessa Adams captivated the audience with music particularly chosen to celebrate our Tercentenary of Modern Freemasonry.

The programme, which included an organ symphony played by the Prov Grand Organist W Bro David Shepherd and accompanied by the orchestra, showcased the talents of the young people with a mixture of music to satisfy all tastes. There is no doubt that this was the case and the audience, which included Brethren, their families and friends from throughout the Province and the families and friends of the orchestra and choir, responded enthusiastically to the entire evening and the comfortable and family atmosphere was enjoyed by all.

In his words of thanks, our Provincial Grand Master R W Bro Graham Ives paid a special tribute to the talents of the students in the orchestra and choir and thanked them for giving such fine entertainment to all present.

He particularly congratulated W Bro David Dorey, who retires shortly after 26 years of service as conductor of the youth orchestra with the Lincolnshire Music Service and for conducting the concerts over past years sponsored by Lincolnshire Masonic Social Committee.
