Freemasonry in the Community – Hampshire & IOW
This past Sunday, the Freemasons of Ringwood supported Ringwood Town Council who held a picnic event in celebration of the Queen’s 90th Birthday with some 2,000 local residents attending by ticket with many others, who attended but did not get tickets, for the seated area.
Our main Freemasonry in the Community display unit was situated right in the heart of the town at one end of the picnic area and opposite a funfair along with Unity Hall Masonic Centre also being open to the public.
Although numbers entering the unit were lower than we had hoped, at about 25 – 30, we achieved quality rather than quantity, with two almost certain to join and a further two who are very interested.
It was always a bit of an unknown as to how many people would migrate from the picnic area to visit our Unity Hall Masonic Centre though inevitably many would pass the unit as they entered / exited the event.
The main Unity Hall was open where nine of the local charities the lodges had supported, who each had a table advertising their work and in turn their connection with local Freemasonry, displayed their work in the community.
We thank Jeff Godsall of FITC for all his help on the day and also our APGM Geoff Tuck, Area Chairman Rodney Dale and Provincial Grand Mentor John Donoghue who came along in support.
