Exmouth Swimming and lifesaving Society receive super support from Freemasons – Sport – Exmouth Journal

The money is raised through the WAKE Fund a trust conceived by the Right Worshipful Brother William Alexander Kneel, our Provincial Grand Master from 1970 to 1984, the late owner of Kneels laundry and dry cleaners. This fund now stands at £1.77million the interest raised is given annually to local non masonic organisations who are in need of help. Since the first disbursement in 2001 over £550,000 has been given to over 650 worthy causes selected by members of the 138 Masonic lodges based in the county.

Freemasons donate £10,000 gift to Halton Haven Hospice

CHESHIRE Freemasons have presented a gift of £10,000 to Halton Haven Hospice. The money will be used to buy a double bed so that married couples can spend precious time together. Shaun Pollard, chief executive officer at the hospice, said: “This fantastic donation from the Freemasons will finally enable us to get something we have wanted for years but have never been able to afford. “This is a specialist, extra large bed which gives all of the support a patient needs but also allows them to spend precious hours, privately and as close to their partner as they have always been at home. “This will make a huge difference to our patients and their loved ones. “I can’t thank the Freemasons enough.” Share article The province of Cheshire Freemasons has 5,000 members. OUGHTRINGTON Explorer Scouts have thanked Freemasons who are helping them be big in Japan this summer. The group invited 87-year-old Freemason Gwilym T Jones to the Oughtrington Community Centre to say thank you for a donation of £250. Warrington East District is sending three boys and two girl Scouts to the World Scout Jamboree to be held in Kirara-hama, Yamaguchi City, Japan, between July 28 and August 8. Share article Explorer Scout leader Andy Smith thanked Gwilym for the donation and revealed that his daughter 16-year-old Abi would be one of the English contingent. Gwilym, who was first principal of the Earl of Chester Chapter No1565 in 2014, which meets at the Spread Eagle Hotel in Lymm, hosted a garden party at his home, which raised more than £600 for charities and good causes.

A primary school’s fundraising campaign to raise money for equipment in their new building got a welcome boost from Hartlepool’s Freemasons. The charitable organisation gave the Seaton school £250 during their open day when visitors were invited to take one last look around the old building. We are really looking forward to our new building which is fitting for the needs of a modern day school Carol Cliffe Holy Trinity is moving to a new building in September and the current site in Crawford Street will be demolished. The school is trying to raise £55,000 to kit out their new buildings with computer technology and interactive white boards.

Freemasons replace defibrillator stolen from Exeter Cathedral A lifesaving defibrillator stolen from a cathedral is to be replaced with the help of a donation from the Freemasons. The Grand Master of Devonshire masons has offered to replace the machine after learning of the theft from Exeter Cathedral. The defibrillator was installed as a safety mesure to help save lives at the cathedral after a member of the congregation collapsed and died during an Easter Sunday service. The device – which delivers an electric shock to help improve chances of survival if someone is suffering a cardiac arrest – cost £3,000 and was donated to the cathedral three years ago.

Freemasons donate £2,000 to Newton Abbot College for their electric car club

STUDENTS at Newton Abbot College will be able to continue their vital work in their Electric Car Club to produce the racing cars of the future. The Devon Freemasons presented them with a cheque for £2,000 so they can do more in the field of electric car technology. This follows a previous cheque for £300 given to the college by St. Georges Lodge who are based in Exeter. Students from the college have been working for several years under the guidance of John Musty, their technology teacher and club leader now on the development, design and racing of Formula 24 electric racing cars. To date they have produced ‘Lucy’ who is among the best electric cars in Devon and are currently building ‘Freddy’, who will hopefully overtake Lucy. John’s aim is not only to produce the best electric car, but also to encourage the students to become top class engineers in the future, and this donation will continue to allow those dreams to prosper.

An Essex Freemason has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list. Keith Brown, of Ingatestone, was awarded in recognition of ‘service to charitable fundraising and the community in Essex’. Through the registered charity ‘The Fryerning Foundation’, Keith and his wife Rita have raised and donated £250, 000 to charities around Essex and beyond. The foundation was formed in 2000 and its aim is to make a difference to small, locally based charities around the community. The donations made include those to schools and churches and particularly to those charities helping children.

Thoresby Colliery Band has been given a generous helping hand from the Freemasons of Bassetlaw in recognition of their fine community work. Thoresby cheque A generous donation from local Freemasons will help keep Thoresby Colliery Band looking good in the future. The Freemasons of Bassetlaw, a charitable arm of the Nottinghamshire Freemasons, presented the band with a cheque of £2,500 at a recent concert as part of an award from a regional fund for local community groups.
