Freemasons from Ryde Vectis Lodge donated £3,000 after the pins were purchased by members across the Island.

Ivanhoe Lodge, which meets at Tapton Hall in Crosspool, has given £20,000 to Support Dogs, which will pay for the two-year specialised training of the dog – appropriately named Ivanhoe.

The centre supports 465 young carers in the St Helens borough between the ages of 6 and 18, who look after sick, disabled and mental health affected parents and adults.

The donations were coordinated through a new Covid-19 Response Group, which was formed by the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) as an emergency structure in response to Covid-19.

With more than 300 families to support remotely, staff at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice were delighted when a hugely welcome batch of electronic tablets arrived from the Yorkshire West Riding Freemasons group.
Former Woman of Rochdale, Marilyn Jones, who started the soup kitchen in 2013 from the back of a car with Vida Slater, said: “We are really pleased to have this support, and we can’t thank the Freemasons enough for everything they’ve done for us thus far. For the past few years, we have had a great deal of support from the local Freemasons.”
