Cadogan Court residents meet Charlie the PAT dog

Residents at RMBI care home Cadogan Court in Exeter, recently enjoyed a visit from Charlie, a Pets As Therapy (PAT) dog.

To welcome Charlie and his handler Sue, staff put on an afternoon tea for residents and guests to enjoy. They will now be coming to the Home every week to spend time with residents.

“Animals play an important role at Cadogan Court, providing companionship to both residents and staff. Their presence can help people to feel more comfortable and relaxed, especially for those who have had pets before they moved into the Home,” said Activities Coordinator Angela Webb.

“Sue and Charlie went around to many of the residents in the residential and nursing houses so that they could meet and stroke him. We’re really looking forward to their weekly visits.”

Pets As Therapy is a national charity which provides visits in hospitals, hospices, nursing and care homes, special needs schools and a variety of other venues across the UK to support people’s health and wellbeing.
