After a long wet winter, the sun finally came out for the West Lancashire Masonic Classic Car Club run to The Mill at Conder Green, Lancaster.
The good weather attracted 23 diners and chairman Dennis Read was delighted to welcomed PrGM, Tony Harrison and his wife Maureen on their first visit to the club.
After the meal Dennis, recounted his celebration of 50 years in Freemasonry, which took place at Warton Lodge No 8411, Kerneforde Hall Carnforth.
Bill Ashton, a very good friend of Dennis had travelled from the Isle of Man to present him with a crystal paperweight from the brethren of the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy Lodge No 9872.
The Mill at Conder Green has long been a favourite venue for the West Lancashire Masonic Classic Car Club. On this occasion, the members stay was unexpectedly extended due to an exceptionally high spring tide that flooded the access road! This was not regarded as a major inconvenience as the members spent a most convivial additional hour in the bar of the restaurant, finally departing at 3.30pm.
There were several interesting classic cars on display including the Jowett Jupiter belonging to Bill and Hilda Swindlehurst, Ralph and Julie Miller’s Mercedes-Benz Pagoda, Peter Meakin’s Triumph Herald cabriolet and Geoff and Marian Lee’s Rolls Royce.
After the meeting Tony thanked Dennis and his wife Cath for organising the event, which he said he and Maureen had greatly enjoyed.
