IMPENDING RETIREMENT

WBro Ernie Greenhalgh will retire as Provincial Grand Almoner at the forthcoming meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge in May next year, following four years of leading the Care Team and implementing the new the Care System.

It is anticipated that his successor will already be working within the Care Team and an application form and job description are attached to this notice.

The closing date for applications is Friday, 30th September, enabling interviews to be carried out week commencing the 17th October.

Job Description

The Provincial Grand Almoner will report to the Assistant Provincial Grand Master responsible for Care, and will endeavour to provide and maintain the Care System within the Province of West Lancashire.

To achieve this aim he will consult with the Senior Officers of the Province, the executives of various charities, his Deputy and the specialist Care Officers.

The Provincial Grand Almoner will work alongside the members of his Team, and in conjunction with his Deputy, will establish an integrated policy of organised support and care for those in need, and will ensure that the policy, and systems and procedures are fully understood and implemented by the Care Team.

The Provincial Grand Almoner will endeavour to ensure that the Care Team and Lodge Almoners (and Chapters where appropriate) are fully aware of their duties and responsibilities, for which the highest level of support will be made available to them, to ensure the exacting standards of the West Lancashire care service is maintained.

The important qualities required by the Provincial Grand Almoner, which will ensure West Lancashire remains at the forefront of Care within the United Grand Lodge of England are as follows:

  • Excellent motivator and man-manager
  • Knowledge of the care system, and fully conversant with all the relevant sections of the welfare state benefits system
  • Good organisational and consultative skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to converse and influence at all levels
  • Good working knowledge of Word and Excel
