MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL CONVOCATION HELD ON THURSDAY 19th

Distinguished Guests and Heads of Orders
Grand Officers, Provincial Officers, Principals, Past Principals and Companions as per the attendance sheets.
The Principals of Chapters within the Province were processed into Provincial Grand Chapter.
Distinguished guests and Heads of Orders were processed into Provincial Grand Chapter.
The Most Excellent Grand Superintendent with the Second and Third Provincial Grand Principals and the Acting Officers entered in procession and Provincial Grand Chapter was opened in due form.
Companions of their respective Chapters were processed into Provincial Chapter with the Banners of their respective Chapters
The Companions stood to order in memory of the Companions who had ascended to the SGC above in the preceding year, and E Comp D Kellet, 3rd Provincial Grand Principal gave the benefit of prayer.
The Most Excellent Grand Superintendent was acclaimed.
Re-appointment of Deputy Grand Superintendent
The ME Grand Superintendent announced the re-appointment of E Comp Peter Mason, PGSwdB, as Deputy Grand Superintendent and he was duly proclaimed.
Re-Appointment of 2nd Provincial Grand Principal
The ME Grand Superintendent announced the re-appointment of E Comp Ronald Cameron as 2 nd Provincial Grand Principal and he was duly proclaimed.
Re-Appointment of 3 rd Provincial Grand Principal
The ME Grand Superintendent announced the re-appointments of E Comp David Kellet, PGStdB as 3rd Provincial Grand Principal and he was duly proclaimed.
Re-Appointment of the Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals
The ME Grand Superintendent announced the re-appointment of E Comp Joseph Graeme Wilson as the Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals.
PROVINCIAL GRAND CHAPTER OF CUMBERLAND & WESTMORLAND
Of Ancient, Free and Accepted Royal Arch Masons of England The Provincial Grand Registrar, E Comp N B English, reported that all Chapters in the Province were represented
and that all the Acting Provincial Officers were present with the exception of three, from whom apologies were received.
The Minutes of the Annual Convocation held on Thursday 21st May 2015 had been published and the 2nd Provincial Grand Principal proposed that these be accepted. The proposition was seconded by the 3rd Provincial Grand Principal and agreed by the meeting.
Statement of Accounts
The Provincial Grand Treasurer, E Comp Ciaran Holmes, presented his audited Statements of Account for the year ending 31st March 2016. A copy of these accounts and the Report is contained in Appendix 3.
E Comp N B English, Provincial Grand Registrar, proposed that these Accounts be received and adopted, with thanks to the Provincial Grand Treasurer and the Auditors. The proposition was seconded by E Comp D Holland, PGStdB, Assistant Provincial Grand Scribe Ezra, and approved by the members.
The collection for the 2016 RMBI Festival raised £1565.20 which included £373.55. Gift Aid Tax relief.
Election of Provincial Grand Treasurer
One nomination had been received, in the name of E Comp Ciaran Holmes, and the ME Grand Superintendent consequently declared him elected Provincial Grand Treasurer for the ensuing year.
Election of Auditors
E Comp N B English, Provincial Grand Registrar, proposed, and E Comp D Holland, PGStdB, Assistant Provincial Grand Scribe Ezra, seconded, that David Allen & Co, Chartered Accountants, of Dalston, Carlisle, be appointed as Auditors for the financial year ending 31st March 2017. The proposition was approved.
Report of the Finance & General Purposes Committee
The Provincial Grand Scribe Ezra, E Comp K R Beaumont, PGStdB, reported on the Finance & General Purposes Committee Meeting which had been held immediately prior to this Annual Convocation. E Comp N B English, Provincial Grand Registrar, proposed, and E Comp D Holland, PGStdB, Assistant Provincial Grand Scribe Ezra, seconded, that the Report be accepted and this was approved.
Report of the Provincial Grand Scribe Ezra
The Provincial Grand Scribe Ezra, E Comp K R Beaumont, presented a comprehensive annual report on the Royal Arch year. He highlighted various initiatives, and demonstrations being championed by the Deputy Grand Superintendent, E Comp Peter Mason. PGSwdB ,The publication entitled 50 Questions Answers about the Royal
Arch had been a great success with over 500 copies sold to this and other Provinces, the Adoption of the shared Ritual by more and more Chapters is also proving to be very successful in the involvement of more companions and improved standards of Ritual.
The Royal Arch percentages of Craft Masons joining the Royal Arch continues to increase the 1st Quarter showed 40.8%.The PGSE thanked all the Chapter Scribe E,s for their work and commitment to their Chapters and to the Province.
E Comp N B English, Provincial Grand Registrar, proposed, and E Comp D Holland, Assistant Provincial Grand Scribe Ezra, seconded, that the Report be accepted. The proposition was approved.
Appointment and Investiture of Provincial Grand Officers
The M E Grand Superintendent appointed and invested the Acting Officers of the year and those companions being appointed to Past Ranks and those being promoted in Provincial Grand Chapter.
Address by the Grand Superintendent
The ME Grand Superintendent welcomed everyone to the Annual Convocation and thanked them for their attendance and support. He congratulated all those companions he had had the pleasure of investing and promoting in Provincial Grand Chapter. He invited the Principals of Chapters to stand and thanked them particularly for the work they were doing and his anticipation of their continued efforts in the future. The ME Grand Superintendent also introduced each of the Distinguished Guests and thanked them for their attendance and support. He went on to thank the Provincial Grand Scribe E and the Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies and their respective teams for the work they do for the Province and spoke about all the initiatives which were ongoing to promote the Royal Arch. The Travelling Pedestal was returned to the Grand Superintendent by members of the Chapter of Regularity No 339. Over the course of the past year it had been in possession of 5 Chapters with more than 50 visiting companions involved on its travels. The M E Grand Superintendent received the Pedestal, adding that he looked forward to presenting it at the Dinner to the winning Chapter. (That Chapter proved to be Chapter of St John No
Any Other Business
The Grand Superintendent spoke at length about E Comp John Hale, Past Grand Superintendent and his services to Royal Arch Masonry, after which Comp Hale, was presented with a Certificate marking 60 years as a member of the Order. This was met with spontaneous acclamation by the assembled company. The Deputy Grand Superintendent then gave a vote of thanks to all those had been involved in the organisation and practicalities of this Annual meeting.
