Following a successful therapies event last year and, receiving many requests for it to be repeated on Saturday 21st May 2016. Individuals with a Learning Disability or ASD , accompanied by parents/carers/support workers, attended another therapies morning in the Village Hall at Trefnant.
On offer was Reiki, Indian Head Massage, Body Massage, Boxercise, Yoga, Foot Care, Nail Polishing and Boccia.
The pleasure and enjoyment was evident as the treatments progressed with many parents and support workers commenting on how relaxed everyone was after the treatments. Boxercise certainly allowed a release of pent up tensions while the quieter treatments had a calming and soothing effect.
The yoga sessions were popular giving participants the opportunities to enjoy an activity not often available to them. Foot care treatments identified the importance of looking after your feet while the nail treatments were very popular.
The opportunity for engaging in something different and therapeutic was welcomed by all, and contributed to the Health and Well – Being of the individuals. Also evident was how therapies are of benefit to parent carers and support staff who sometimes deal with stressful situations and may not have the time to look after themselves.
Our thanks must go to all the therapists who gave so willingly of their time to make the day so successful and enjoyable and to DCC Leisure Services and the volunteers for providing teas and coffees.
The event was funded by Abergele Rotary Club and Freemasons of Dyffryn Clwyd Group 4.
