Twenty two Ilkeston brethren, and two potential members, made the trip to Aston Martin Lagonda, Gaydon, Warwickshire, for a morning tour around the factory, to see a dream car in production. Lunch at the British Motor Museum was followed by a trip around the museum, cars from the early Austin Seven and BMW, to the Le Mans racing Jaguars, and a Reliant Robin Post office Van, were on view.
There followed a tour around the Leyland Collection, for about an hour, by this time most of us were ready to rest our weary feet. But, what a brilliant day was had by all, from the well seasoned masons from craft and side degrees, to the two prospective members for the craft, who joined us for the day.
This enabled them to interact with masons prior to them joining the Lodge.
The next trip to Morgan Motors and hopefully a ride on the Flying Scotsman later this year will, again, I hope get a good response from the Freemasons of Ilkeston.
