Freemasons Golf Day Raises £1,500.00 for Charity

On Wednesday 29thJune 2016 the Area 1 Golf Day was held at Prenton Golf Club.  Despite atrocious weather conditions in the morning which almost rendered the course unplayable, the ground-staff worked wonders to enable our 32 players to get out on the course.  Unfortunately, during the event the weather once again intervened to ensure that everyone had, if not an enjoyable day, definitely one which they will long remember with a certain number of balls being ‘retired’.

The 32 players consisted of 9 Area 1 Masons plus a Brother from N/Wales who kindly made the journey across the River Dee; 6 Guests and 16 Corporate Guests (who made up 4 teams of 4 and played for a team Trophy).

Whilst the President’s Salver was won by W/Bro’s Neil McCrone & Steve Simcox from Broadsmith Lodge 3593, W/Bro Haydn Owen of Seacombe Lodge 3468 was able to successfully master the conditions and this saw him take home the Vice President Trophy, the Festival Trophy, The Chairman’s Bowl and the Nearest the Pin trophy.

Due to the kind donations of corporate sponsorship from, Butterworth Spengler Insurance Brokers, Allianz, Aviva Insurance & Royal Sun Alliance (financially and with auction prizes), plus £267.00 raffle money, the three chosen charities (TLC Appeal, Cheshire Provincial Fund & Claire House) will all benefit to the sum of £500.00 each.

All-in-all a great day and we look forward to inviting all of our Golf playing Cheshire Brethren and their guests to next year’s event.
