Doug Holgate installed his successor at Anfield Lodge No 2215, which meets at Woolton Golf Club, in November 2017, and Doug and his wife Brenda have had a very enjoyable year. They have managed to organise several very enjoyable, well attended, social functions none more so that their Ladies Evening.

During the evening there were several ways in which money was raised as always happens at any Masonic function. One such collection raised the sum of £350 and Doug and Brenda asked if this could be given to the Wigan Salvation Army and everyone was happy to support this.

Having found a gap in his diary Doug, accompanied by wife Brenda, visited the Wigan Salvation Army Citadel. Doug and Brenda are keen supporters of the Salvation Army as this was where Doug’s parents met a long time ago.

Both Doug and Brenda, in true Masonic style, are great supporters of charity and are always keen to add their support. In fact, every year at Christmas, they give a donation to the Salvation Army to help pay for a Christmas dinner for those less fortunate than themselves.

So, Doug and Brenda met with Major Mark Lewis and had extreme pleasure in presenting him with the cheque for £350.
