THE DERBYSHIRE BRANCH OF MTSFC IS OFF TO A FLYING START FOR THEIR FLY-FISHING EVENT!
On the 9th of May last, Flyfishers Lodge, under the umbrella of MTSFC the Masonic Fishing Charity, held their annual charity fishing day for children with additional or special educational needs.
Held at The Yeaveley Estate near Ashbourne, this year’s children were from the a local school for the deaf near Derby. Thankfully the weather was fine on the day, giving ideal fly-fishing conditions – the proof of this being all the children caught several rainbow trouts each.
After fishing in the morning, the children and brethren enjoyed a buffet lunch and barbecue prepared by four awesome ladies known acting as the kitchen team.
Certificates and medals were then presented to each child by the Provincial Grand Master RWBro Steven Varley and bouquets of flowers presented to the ladies by the Past Provincial Grand Master RWBro Graham Rudd.
The event was supported by several local companies who deserve recognition and thanks, namely: Foundation Derbyshire for help with funding, Mr Stuart Lees for providing the bouncy castle, Mr Richard Taylor of Owen Taylor Butchers for supplying the burgers, and WBro David Yates of Luke Evans Bakery for the bread rolls.
Bro Peter Mitchell of Flyfishers Lodge, is the Derbyshire Rep of the MTSFC, he stated “Once again we’ve had a most enjoyable and successful day. To be able to get young children to participate in our sport when perhaps ordinarily they may be unable to, is so rewarding, the excitement and smiles say it all! Thanks and well done to all involved.” (Pictures submitted by Peter Mitchell)
