Reading Time: 2 minutes

Event date: 2017-07-02

On Sunday 2nd July, the West Cumbria Hospice at Home Colour Run took place at Muncaster Castle. Over 800 people entered the event which consisted of a 1 km and a 5 km circuit. The 5k or 1k courses were open to all ages, genders and abilities and encouraged people to have fun, get messy and raise money for a great cause. The organisers of the event were hoping to raise over £30k on the day to contribute to the running of the Hospice at Home Charity.

West Cumbria Hospice at Home deliver high quality palliative and end of life care in West Cumbria, by providing services traditionally found in a hospice building, to people in their own homes and local communities.

W.Bro David Holgate, on behalf of the South West and West Cumbria Groups coordinated marshals and was supported by local Freemasons and their families on the day. The number of Brethren who turned out to help were beyond the expectations of West Cumbria Hospice at Home team, and they were very grateful for our assistance.

On the day, we helped to hand out goodie bags to registered competitors from one of the stalls, and help marshal the 1k and 5k routes. All the marshals connected with the Local Freemasons wore the Cumberland & Westmorland high vis tabards advertising our work in the community.

The weather stayed kind and all who attended had a great day at Muncaster Castle and helped to support one of the areas worthy charities.
