A donation of £1,400 from Chicheley Lodge No. 607 and the Provincial Grand Charity will allow No Gain, No Pain UK to purchase a much-needed syringe driver for the St Ives area.
No Gain, No Pain UK was set up to help purchase Syringe Drivers. These are essential tools that provide pain relief for palliative care.
Syringe drivers are not just used by cancer patients but also Alzheimer’s patients and anyone in need at the end of their life, they administer pain relief as well as anti-sickness and other drugs that are needed.
They plan to provide at least one new driver every year for the local areas, after successfully delivering their first syringe driver to the Whittlesey community nurses in October 2015.
To date, an impressive 61 Drivers have been provided.
