Cheshire Mason’s help to Stop Domestic Abuse

Colin Ross, the Provincial Charity Steward accompanied by Area 1 Charity Representative Garry Usherwood, presented a cheque for £2500 to Anita Leech, Chair of the Freedom Programme, accompanied by Angela Eagle, MP for Wallasey, Wirral.
By providing the funding for crèche facilities, Freemasons have enabled the Freedom Programme to help families with pre-school age children for the first time.
The Freedom Programme is run to enable Women suffering from Domestic Abuse to have the confidence to face up to their abuser and tell them their behaviour is unacceptable, or have the confidence to leave the relationship, if after this course it still isn’t working out.
Many women following the course have the confidence to return to training or employment. The positive outcomes strongly impact on the children and the families wellbeing.
The Funding has also kick-started Matched Funding enabling a second course to run later in the year.
