The brethren of Bedford Lodge No. 320 and Everett Lodge No. 524 recently made donations to the Everett Recreation Board and to the Everett Sportsmen’s Club’s Junior Rifle Club. Each lodge donated $250 to each of the organizations.
Everett Recreation Board is comprised of a group of volunteers organized to maintain and improve Tenley Park, a 77 acre community park owned by the Borough of Everett. Land for the park was donated to Everett Borough by Brother Glen C. Tenley, who was a 65-year member of Everett Lodge when he passed away in 2015. At Tenley Park, the community can enjoy hiking trails, quiet picnic pavilions, a playground, geocaching, musical performances, and more. In fact, another pavilion is currently under construction, so the lodge’s donations are especially timely.
The Everett Sportsmen’s Club is a nonprofit, family oriented organization dedicated to sport shooting, and they will use the lodge donations to support their Junior Rifle Club, which currently provides instruction, mentoring, and competition opportunities for area youth aged 11 to 19 with a safety-first emphasis. Many of their members go on to enjoy successfully competing as members of the Everett Area High School Shooting Team.
Acknowledgement of the donations was made prior to an Extra Meeting of Everett Lodge on April 27, 2016.
