2021 Festival to Benefit from Brecon Jazz Festival

brecon-jazz16-logoThe two major concerts of this year’s Brecon Jazz Festival will take place in the splendid and acoustically superb setting of Brecon Cathedral.  On Satuday 13 August at 6.00 pm, A Duke Ellington Showcase will feature The Capital City Jazz Orchestra, vocalist sublime Sarah Moule and all-round dancer and entertainer Johnny Tudor.  They will present a programme of Ellington favourites alongside excerpts from some of his landmark but rarely performed large scale works.

On Sunday 14 August at 7.30 pm, the hugely talented Jacqui Dankworth together with her celebrated American singer/songwriter/pianist husband Charlie Wood and stellar group of supporting musicians will deliver a feast of jazz classics, contemporary icons, original compositions and the very best of The Great American Songbook.  Further details of the concerts are attached for your information.

Hopefully many of you will wish to take advantage of this memorable opportunity to enjoy the performances of some true A list artists.  Therefore, in addition to increasing the potential for the full houses which these concerts merit, as a further incentive to Brethren, the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother Gareth Jones OBE, has readily agreed to the concerts also being used to generate a financial contribution to our 2021 Festival.

20% of every ticket sold to members of the masonic fraternity and their guests, including the booking fee, will be donated to the 2021 Festival funds.  This means that the Festival will benefit by £2.64 for every ticket sold for the Ellington Showcase.  For Jacqui Dankworth’s concert the return per ticket sold will be £3.08.

Because these will be the only discounted tickets on offer, it is important that your bookings are made via a designated online route which will differentiate them from those on sale to the general public and thus enable the total discount amount to be identified for forwarding to Province.  You should therefore click on the following link:

http://breconjazz2016.co.uk/ticket-with-code

which will take you directly to the designated page containing booking and payment options for each concert.  This facility will go live at 9.15 am tomorrow (Friday 29 July) so please do not try to access beforehand.

Should you have any queries or wish to purchase tickets by post please contact me at wayne@nullbuffettwarlow.freeserve.co.uk or by telephone on 01656 773389 / 07976 324414 or by snail mail to The Haven, Ocean View, West Drive, Porthcawl, CF36 3HT.  If you order and pay by post please make your cheque payable to Brecon Cathedral.

Finally, as the Cathedral has a maximum audience allocation of 390 for each concert, please book early to ensure that seats are still available.  Also, as all seating is unreserved it would be prudent to arrive early to benefit from the best choice of seats.

Many thanks,
Yours sincerely and fraternally,
Wayne Buffett Warlow,
(Past Grand Organist)
